ANGRY BIRDS GO! COMING DECEMBER 11 – WATCH THE GAMEPLAY TRAILER!

On December 11, Angry Birds Go! will be available in app stores worldwide. It’s a complete first for the Angry Birds series, featuring high-octane downhill racing, upgradable karts, tons of characters with unique special powers and a fully rendered 3D world.

And, yes! The game will be built from the ground up as a free-to-play title, with a whole host of modes and features included from the get-go. In Angry Birds Go! you can feel the rush as you fling down the track and go head-to-head in a fast and furious race to the finish line! Look out for treacherous roads, mischievous opponents and unique special powers to put the race leader behind the pack. Plus you can go from homemade soapbox car to a super-fly car by upgrading your ride. It’s all there, along with crazy stunt and air tracks, and many fun and surprising game modes. The game will be out on iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10.

Hasbro’s TELEPODS will also be appearing in Angry Birds Go! – so, like with Angry Birds Star Wars II, you’ll also be able to teleport your favorite karts into the game. We’ll also offer a headstart for Angry Birds Go! with a special countdown app at the end of October – if you already have your Angry Birds Go! TELEPODS, then just scan them in to see what you’ll get in the game.

December 11 is just the beginning. We have huge plans for our first ever racing game and we can’t wait to see what you guys think.

Galaxy Note 3 September 4th launch date

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date remains unconfirmed but new information suggests that the device could go up for pre-order on September 16th .

Specific Galaxy Note 3 release date rumors have been scarce ahead of the device’s September 4th launch date but all of them have zeroed in on the month of September as a probable release month. We heard one rumor that suggested a late September Galaxy Note 3 release date in the United Kingdom and we saw another suggest that it could start shipping almost immediately after its launch in early September.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 is expected to arrive for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon at the very least and do so with a number of big time upgrades over the Galaxy Note 2.

The device is expected to wield a large 5.68-inch 1080p display, a quad-core processor, a 13MP camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and an upgrades to the device’s S Pen stylus that comes bundled along.

Samsung’s September 4th launch date comes a week before Apple’s rumored September 10th launch date wherein the company is expected to announce both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.

Since it was announced, Windows Blue has functioned like a carrot on a stick for Windows 8 users who have had complaints about the operating system. Well, that may very well be majority of the users, but Windows has never been a stranger to complaints anyway. It is quite expected then, that Microsoft quickly came up with an update that was supposed to address those concerns. Initially labelled Windows Blue, Microsoft has decided to launch the more appropriately named Windows 8.1 update in June this year

There’s even better news. Windows 8.1 is going to be a free upgrade. Current Windows 8 users will be able to gain access to the upgrade from the home screen, that is, when Windows 8.1 launches. Don’t hold your breath for when that happens, though, as no details about the release date have been announced.

You might want to mark your calendar, specifically June 26, as this is going to be the date when a preview version is going to be made available to the public.

Considering that there has been so much noise about Windows Blue – in spite of the fact that all we had to go on were rumors – the news that Windows Blue is dead in the water should satisfy many an armchair critic. From bringing back the Start button (optional) to providing the capability to boot to the desktop – these rumored features have given pundits fodder.

Now we don’t know if these features are going to make it to the renamed Windows 8.1, but this move of Microsoft’s might just be a good thing for the much maligned operating system.

Linux Mint 15’s New Driver Manager

New features in the Linux Mint 15 ‘Olivia’ release include a Driver Manager that is meant for installation of proprietary AMD and NVIDIA graphics drivers. Quite contrary to the program in Ubuntu, this Driver Manager shows details of the driver version that are available. There is also a package repository manager that adds more control to managing PPAs.

Users can get this release with the MATE and the Cinnamon desktops, which is something that is pretty much expected with Linux. Cinnamon 1.8 is the one being used and it was released a month ago with notable new features. These included desklets, which is a type of new screen saver along with a screen locking tool. It also has software for controlling Spices, which are bundles of extensions, themes and desklets.

It must be noted that Cinnamon’s newly introduced Control Center features do not require users to depend on GNOME’s Control Center when setting up particular components. The components referred to here are those that Cinnamon adopts from GNOME 3.

The Linux Mint 15 Facilitates Better Theming

There is the Mint variant with MATE, which is the desktop-distinguishable component from GNOME 2, and needs version 1.6 to function. This was released for users two months ago. This function allows users to enjoy better theming support that is meant for GTK3 applications. The file manager that is associated with this, which is the Nautilus-2-based Caja, also has an enhanced ‘Places’ sidebar.

The Mint editions can be used with the 64-bit x86 as well as the 32-bit system. They can operate with or without multimedia codecs. However, users must note that these may display operational problems in some regions or countries.

The ISOs measure around 1 GB and can be utilized for creating USB installation media. They are available for no charge at all through a variety of mirror servers. According to the release notes, EFI is supported. Users are advised to have the Secure Boot feature disabled.

The next version of Android is to be named Key Lime Pie, whether this is Android 4.3 or Android 5 remains to be seen. VR-Zone has reported that Key Lime Pie is to have a late October launch and it will be heavily optimized to allow it run on devices with 512MB of RAM, albeit most mid-range devices are shipping with 1GB standard RAM these days.


Android 4.0 was released in autumn 2011, Android 4.2 in autumn 2012 and it would stand to (logical) reason that this autumn would see the next major version of the Android OS, Key Lime Pie, being released. However massive corporations are seldom logical, which is why we, as consumers, always wait with baited breath for the next product.

Also this autumn is supposedly the launch time for the (much hushed) Moto-X smart phone and it would be a massive plus for Google to release this alongside a fresh slice of Key Lime Pie!

Google have made it crystal clear in the past couple of years that Android is not going to be an Operating System that updates constantly without substance anymore. Google seem to be reaching, and successfully so, for a platform that can show the rest of the market how it’s done.
It’s no longer about being first in the title race for the mobile OS crown, it’s about being the best with quality and solid features. This game plan was introduced in Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean and Google are indeed proving that they are a top contender for the top spot.
And they’ll have to be as Apple are pushing heavily-optimized GPU performance in iOS7, Google need to show that Android is not going to sit back and flounder in the tech waters.

New Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform Launched

Red Hat have just launched an enterprise Linux-based OpenStack platform that provides a way to build out cloud services from either a services provider or inside the data center.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux will integrate a vanilla version of OpenStack creating a new Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. This means that Red Hat applications can run in an IaaS platform and provide mobile and web oriented application support which are more cloud aware. This is now going to serve as the main platform for Red Hat’s cloud strategy.

This breaking news positions Red Hat as a clear leader for building out OpenStack clouds.  Red Hat is also using the OpenStack platform to offer aRed Hat has made a significant push in OpenStack over the last year. It is now the number one contributor to the open cloud effort.  The company has made investments in Mirantis, which will provide a services component to Red Hat OpenStack build outs.  The OpenStack cloud will also have  a network of certified partners.

The combination of Red Hat’s servers with OpenStack has an intention of giving developers more flexible abilities to differentiate the services they run while leaving Red Hat with the responsibility of maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server and the OpenStack code.

According to Red Hat, using their CloudForms (a hybrid platform) it will let users deploy, monitor, and manage cloud services across Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, VMware vSphere, and other virtualization solutions.

With this release, it shows that Red Hat has the engineering skills and technology to position the company to be a frontrunner in the platform warsn alternative to the virtualized environments run by VMware.

A server connection is required to verify legal copies on a regular basis, but that’s not a 100% guarantee illegal copies of the software can’t and won’t appear. Proof of that comes in the form of a cracked version of Photoshop CC, which was made available in less than 24 hours after the subscriptions went live.

Adobe had thought that releasing its software via a subscription service would cut down on piracy of its products.  However, a torrent for the subscription version of Photoshop CC has appeared on The Pirate Bay. The torrent file is named “Adobe Photoshop CC 14.0 Final Multilanguage.” The comments on the torrent listing seem to confirm this is the latest version of Photoshop and it is in full working order.

In order for this torrent to exist and the software to function, Adobe’s Creative Cloud validation has been either bypassed or cracked. It therefore seems reasonable to assume other applications in the Creative Cloud suite will also appear as torrents any time soon.

Depending on how the software validation has been cracked, will determine whether Adobe can stop cracked copies of its products from functioning. If the cracked copies still contact Adobe’s servers and somehow pass themselves off as valid, then expect that to happen. However, if these copies function without ever needing to contact a validation server, there appears to be nothing Adobe can do to stop them functioning.

Unfortunately for a company like Adobe, the web does make it easier to obtain pirated material and until the day when there is a rock solid way to make a product un-crackable, there will always be ways to pirate software.

Google Inc has piloted a program, named Project Loon, which is aimed at bringing a reliable internet connection to the most remote regions on earth.  The company has launched a small network of balloons over the Southern Hemisphere to start the testing.

The program started this month; the location being the Canterbury area of New Zealand’s South Island.  The company are using high-altitude solar-powered balloons that ride the wind about 20 kilometres (12.5 miles) above the ground; that’s twice the height a commercial airline flies.

Project Loon uses algorithms to determine where the balloons need to go, then moves them into winds blowing in the desired direction and by doing so, the balloons then form a network of  hot spots that can provide Internet access over a broad area. Using radio frequency bands, the connection is comparable to a 3G connection, Google has said.

To connect to this network in the sky, an Internet antenna is attached to buildings below on the ground.

Microsoft's Next Version Of Windows, Windows Blue, Is Coming In June

Windows Blue could be officially called Windows 8.1

We keep hearing about Microsoft's next version of Windows, code-named Windows Blue, which is expected to fix all the things people really hate about Windows 8.
We just learned from Microsoft's Julie Larson-Green, who leads Windows 8 development, that Windows Blue will be available to everyone at the end of June. She was speaking at the 2013 WIRED Business Conference in New York.

That's about the time Microsoft is holding its annual developers conference, Build, in San Francisco.

Sounds like instead of just talking about Windows Blue or releasing it to only to developers, Microsoft is prepared to let everyone upgrade to it.

Microsoft hasn't really discussed a lot of details on Blue and what kinds of changes will be included in it. A lot of info has leaked about it, as has some preview versions. So we know that it won't be a major overhaul, although it will includes some new features and many performance improvements.


Windows Blue will be more like a big update to Windows 8 than a brand new operating system.

It could be called Windows 8.1. That name comes from an image leaked on the Polish Windows message board at winforum.eu which showed a version of Windows called Windows 8.1 Pro.
